Hoopla Consortia Migration- July 11, 2022

On Monday, July 11, 2022, hoopla will be launching their consortial program. This program will make it possible for libraries’ local hoopla content to integrate with NC LIVE’s hoopla content in the same account. Library users will no longer need two separate hoopla accounts. They will be able to see both NC LIVE hoopla content and their library’s hoopla content in the same account.

Additionally, consortial reporting will be available. Libraries will be able to see usage statistics for both their NC LIVE content and their local library content. NC LIVE will be able to report individual library usage of NC LIVE’s hoopla content.

Please see below for instructions for your library based on your hoopla set-up

For libraries that have local hoopla content besides NC LIVE’s content (flex or instant)

  • Starting July 11th, your users should log into hoopla using only their home library account. Using this account, they will be able to access your library’s content and NC LIVE’s content. They will no longer need to use their NC LIVE hoopla account to access content.
  • Hoopla will be reaching out to you in the next couple of weeks to verify the barcode authentication that you would like users to use with your home library account

For libraries that only have NC LIVE content on hoopla

  • Starting July 11th, your users should continue to log into hoopla using the NC LIVE account they created on hoopla.
  • See instructions below for how users can create a hoopla account if they don’t already have one.
  • Hoopla will be adding all NC LIVE institutions so they show up in the “Find Your Library” field in the hoopla user registration process. Users will no longer have to select “NC LIVE” as their institution
  • Hoopla will be reaching out to you in the next couple of months to set up barcode authentication for your library. If your library does not use library barcodes, hoopla will work with you to set up a custom message for your users so they know how to login when they select their home institution from the hoopla login page.

How users can sign-up for a hoopla account:

Steps for User Registration- if your library doesn’t show up on the hoopla registration page “Find Your Library”

1) Users will need to register for an account before accessing NC LIVE content on hoopla, even from within the library building.

2) Visit hoopladigital.com or open the app.

3) Select your library as “NC LIVE”*

4) If you have a library card barcode, enter your library card number and add "NC" at the end, for example "2000385723NC".
