Can I access NC LIVE at home? Yes, library patrons and students of participating academic institutions can connect to NC LIVE from home with their own computers via the Internet. How do I get a password to access NC LIVE from home? Remote access to NC LIVE is available to registered individual borrowers at public libraries, and faculty, staff, and students at participating academic institutions. Remote access is not available to corporate and other libraries that are not members of an NC LIVE community of interest. Contact your library staff and ask how to get the NC LIVE password.What do I need to have at home to connect to NC LIVE @ home? A computer capable of accessing the Internet, a Web browser (like Internet Explorer or Netscape), and a connection to the Internet (dial-up, cable modem, DSL, etc.).
How do I connect to NC LIVE?
How are NC LIVE resources different from what I can get when I search the Internet with an Internet search engine? The majority of NC LIVE's resources are not accessible to the general Internet user. NC LIVE resources are more focused than what you can find with an Internet search engine, and includes the full-text of many commerically available magazines, journals, and newspapers. Once I get my search results, can I get to these resources immediately, online? You can read many items immediately, but not all. These are online, "full-text" materials, for the rest you will need to talk to your local library staff. May I share my password with friends? It is important that you do not share your password with others. NC LIVE's many resources are made available through a statewide subscription that allows only the registered users of participating libraries to have access to the resources. Your qualified to use its resources under the terms of these licenses. What do I say if someone asks for my password? Tell them to contact their local library to get their own password. Do I have to renew my password? Passwords are changed every August and January. If you think your password may have expired, please contact your local library staff. . |
