Data Point Added During FY Total Held at FY End NC LIVE Notes ALS Definition

Total E-Books

(item 401)

193*  30,723 Please note: These numbers represent the number of eBooks available through NC LIVE, but may differ based on your local library's inclusion of MARC records in your catalog. See ALS Definition for eBooks. *193 represents the number added via eBooks on EBSCOhost, formerly known as NetLibrary. E-Books (item 401) - Report the number of electronic monographs that have been cataloged by your library and are accessible through the library's catalog.

Audiovisuals

(item 403)

145* 5059 total** (556 = total video files in the NC LIVE Video Collection) We counted all NC LIVE audio books and videos that were considered items within NC LIVE resources. *145 video files were added to the NC LIVE Video Collection.  **In 2009-10 NC LIVE did not count each individual PBS video file within the NC LIVE Video Collection, but instead separated them by series title.  In 2010-11, all video files were counted individually, regardless of whether they were separate episodes of the same series. Audiovisual Materials (item 403) - Report units of all library materials that are displayed by
visual projection or magnification or through sound reproduction, or both, including graphic
materials, audio materials (include audio books), motion pictures, video materials, and special
visual materials such as three-dimensional materials.

Current Serial Subscriptions

(item 404)

88 7,421** unique full-text magazines & journals

Unique, full-text journal and magazine titles from all NC LIVE resources. Please Note: Your use of this number may vary depending on how you interpret the ALS instructions.  **If these serials are accounted for in "aggregated databases" then this number might be zero for your library.

This number includes all full-text serials from EBSCOhost and the Wall Street Journal from ProQuest.

This number changed significantly from last year due to an error in our count.  The number provided now is a de-duped number that accounts for only the unique full-text serial subscriptions included in NC LIVE databases.  Last year's number included other unique items (e.g. reports) that were not all defined as serials.

Current serial subscriptions (item 404) - Report the total number of titles in all formats. If the title comes in both paper and electronic form, count it twice. Count each individual title if it is received as part of a publisher’s package. Include paper and microfilm government documents issued serially if they are accessible through the library’s catalog. Report indexing and abstracting services that may contain full-text in item 405.

Electronic Reference Sources & Aggregation Services

(item 405)

0  60 In our listing of electronic reference sources and aggregation services, we included all NC LIVE subscription-based resources, in addition to our video collection (a local collection mounted on the NC LIVE server). We did not include sources for which there was no content included, such as in the case of EBSCOhost search interfaces which search collections already included in this count. Electronic reference sources and aggregation services (item 405) –Report the total number of
citation indexes and abstracts; full-text article databases; full-text reference sources (e.g.,
encyclopedias, almanacs, biographical and statistical sources and other quick fact-finding
sources); dissertation and conference proceedings databases.
