It's a library at your fingertips.

Direct Article Links (EBSCO)

A new feature for NC LIVE users is the ability to link directly to NC LIVE content, such as e-books, magazine & journal articles, or images.  Previously this was only available if a library was hosting its own local proxy server, but we recently adapted the NC LIVE login page to allow for this type of deep linking without a local proxy.

As a part of this change, the persistent links found in all EBSCO resources are set  to allow users outside of a library to access them with the NC LIVE login information. This means you now have the ability to:

  • Any EBSCO article link can be emailed to someone - If they are outside the library they will be asked to login with the standard NC LIVE login page before being taken to the article.
  • Instructors & Faculty can take a permanent link in EBSCO and post it in their course management system.  The student will then be asked for their NC LIVE login before being taken to the article.
  • Any alert or RSS feed will be automatically be sent through the NC LIVE login screen when a user tries to access one of the articles in the list.

Note this does not apply to libraries who do run a local proxy server.

Highlighted below is an example of a persistent link in EBSCO that now has the NC LIVE login in front of it.
