Preview the new NC LIVE website!
NC LIVE staff are excited to officially announce the *beta release* of the new NC LIVE website: http://new.nclive.org
The new website will be available for use in beta through the end of June 2010. In July, we'll make the permanent switch to the new website. Between now and July, we will perform usability testing and gather feedback from end-users and library staff to continue improving the site.
You can access the new NC LIVE website from a link in the News section of our current homepage (http://nclive.org), or through the NC LIVE login page (http://nclive.org/authhome.phtml).
Why we need your help!
We invite you and your library patrons to begin testing and using the new website. As it is still in it's beta form, we realize that the new website may have some unexpected issues that we hope you will help us identify. When we permanently switch to the new website in July, it is our goal to make the change as seamless as possible for library staff and patrons. We welcome any comments, feedback, or suggestions you may have.
We have provided a link from the homepage of the new site where you may provide us with feedback: http://new.nclive.org/?q=feedbackform
The new website features a few key changes, including:
- Improved log-in process. Users no longer need to log-in until
they click on a subscription resource link.
- EBSCOhost Integrated Search box embedded on all content pages * Integrated NC LIVE chat and NC Knows 24/7 online chat service
- A "Top 5 Resources" widget that displays the most used resources
at your library
- "Discover Pages" that surface certain content (articles, books,
videos, etc.) as it relates to specific end-user needs. Content
for these pages was created by librarians to expose end-users to
additional NC LIVE content.

Announcement of EBSCOhost Integrated Search - Coming this Thursday, January 7th
On the morning of Thursday, January 7, 2010, NC LIVE will replace its
current WebFeat EZ Search and Advanced Search functionality with
EBSCOhost Integrated Search.
For users, this change means:
* The current search box on the NC LIVE homepage will change to a
slightly different looking EBSCO search box. When a search is
launched, users will be taken to the EBSCOhost Integrated
Searching interface, which looks very similar to the results page
for other EBSCO databases.
* The Advanced Search tab on the NC LIVE homepage will remain,
giving users a link to the "Expanded Basic Search" EBSCOhost Integrated
Searching Interface, as well as the option to use
the traditional WebFeat Advanced Search interface through March
31, 2010.
While the look and feel of the search box will change, the EHiS
interface bears a striking resemblance to the current EBSCOHost
interface. For more information about EBSCOhost Integrated Search and to
watch a demo, see our FAQ: http://nclive.org/training/ehis_faq.phtml
EBSCO will be providing online training on EBSCOhost Integrated Search.
The next online workshop is January 19th at 11am. To register and for
more training dates, visit:
http://www2.ebsco.com/en-us/app/training/Pages/TrainingForm.aspx
Should a library wish to continue using the WebFeat search through the
end of the contract, please contact the NC LIVE staff to determine the
potential avenues for doing so.
As always, please contact us with any questions.
We had received a few reports of users at home going through proxy servers, having issues watching our PBS videos. The issue was resolved on January 4th. If you continue to receive reports, please let us know.
